What to Expect

Expect a warm welcome, a transformative experience, and a community ready to embrace you. Everyone is welcome at NSUMC—whether you’ve been to church all your life, are coming back after being away, or are completely new to Christianity.

Here are some of the most common questions we receive:

What are services like?

Our 10am Sunday service is a unique blend of tradition and contemporary relevance. We honor our rich heritage with time-honored hymns and thought-provoking liturgy, while our messages tackle today’s issues with insight and grace. This balance creates an atmosphere of timeless wisdom and modern resilience that resonates with all generations.

In an ever-changing world, we believe the consistency and depth of traditional worship can offer a grounding and empowering influence, especially for young professionals and families seeking a firm foundation in an uncertain world.

Dress as you feel comfortable. Whether you’re in a suit or jeans, you’re welcome at NSUMC.

Your comfort is important to us. While we would love to get to know you, you will never be singled out or asked to introduce yourself during the service.

An offering is taken as an act of worship, but as a visitor, please do not feel any pressure to participate. This is for those who are part of the NSUMC community and wish to contribute to our mission.

At NSUMC, we deeply value our young ones. All children and youth start the service with their families in the larger worship setting for about twenty minutes. They then proceed to our children’s program where they will receive individualized attention and engage in age-appropriate activities designed to nurture their spiritual growth. We’re committed to providing a safe, caring, and enriching environment for them.

Let's Connect

Whether you want to let us know you’re visiting, or you have a question you’d like to ask, we’re here to help.

A Message from Our Pastor

I’m Christopher Wurpts, and I’m the lead pastor at North Scottsdale United Methodist Church. On behalf of our team, I would like to personally invite you to join in worship with us. We believe that the best way to experience God is through authentic relationships. When we gather together, our goal is to connect with God and with each other.

We understand that finding a new church isn’t always easy. We strive to provide access to a spiritual experience without the baggage. We’re not here to get your money or to make you feel bad or to turn you against you’re neighbor. We’re here to be a safe, inclusive space where anyone can find belonging.

Life can get lonely. It’s never been easier to fall into isolation, as you spend all of your time and energy on things that don’t bring true fulfillment. Together we can find meaning and grow in our understanding of God’s love.

If there is anything we can do before your visit, don’t hesitate to reach out.

– Christopher Wurpts | Lead Pastor
