December 2024 NSUMC Leadership Board Meeting Report

Learning

1.  Pastor Chris restated the church’s goals for 2025 that were approved at the Church Conference.
2.  Shellee Snoke informed the Board that the Facilities Maintenance Team would like to keep the A/C maintenance contract.  The contract has Arizona Comfort Specialists come out every 6 months and check and maintain all 18 AC units at the church.  They also give the church top priority service if there is ever an issue with one of the units.

Leading

1.  A stewardship update was given by Shellee Snoke.  78 pledges totaling $304,246.  Pastor Chris asked for a few volunteers to help make phone calls to previous pledgers that have not yet submitted their 2025 pledge.  Pastor Chris will provide a script for everyone to use when making the phone calls.  He will also send a reminder post card in January.
2.  The Leadership Board Building Spiritual Sentence is due in January.
3. Fostering Adult Discipleship
   1. What would the Board’s hope be for this team?
      1. Find a way for it to tie into the goals of the church.
   2. What would the Fruits of this Discipleship be?
      1. A culture where members hold each other accountable
      2. Help members be more comfortable talking about their faith.
   3. What questions should the team answer in the next 6 months?
      1. What are adults looking for?
      2. Is there a sense of spiritual growth?
      3. What is the current state of our adult ministries?
      4. What are the needs/trends of adults outside our church?
      5. What are we doing right now?
   4. The Discernment Team should report back to the Leadership Board with ideas for fall groups and activities.
4. How can we monitor the progress towards the church’s goals
   1. Add a line to the Team Reports
   2. Team Leaders should keep a journal of participants
   3. Create a box to be put in the Narthex for members to self-report their participation
