November 6th is a Day of Prayer for the Ukraine.
Please keep the people of Ukraine in your prayers as the tragic violence befalling their country continues. In June, in collaboration with UMCOR, NSUMC collected $1,645 in donations from the church and the Mission Committee matched that amount. We were able to provide UMCOR's Ukraine efforts with $3,290. You can read the DSCUMC article about the war in Ukraine here. ![]() UWFaith will have a Unit Meeting and potluck lunch after the service on Sunday, November 6th at 11:15. NSUMC invites you and your family to a “make & take” event on Sunday, November 13th at 11:00AM. We would like to help you prepare for the giving season with a “Giving Plate.” We will supply the plates and materials to help you make a Giving Plate plus the cookies that can be given away on that Giving Plate. You can create a design for this plate with the assistance of our Artist in Residence, Janet Flournoy, or you can use your creativity to make your own design.
The end of November helps us remember that it is a season of gratitude. We all have someone to be grateful for and we would like to assist people in giving a gift from the heart. The concept behind the giving plate, it that you create it, and fill it with seasonal goodies. Then gift this full plate to some that you are grateful for. The only thing you ask in return is that they fill it and gift it to someone that made them smile. The Giving Plate ends up being a gift that keeps giving and keeps making people smile throughout the season. The family ministry team will be serving a wide selection of pies to accompany this artistic event. This event is FREE and open to the public. ![]() The Mission Committee is collecting donations for the Suitcase Initiative. These suitcases are giving to foster children aging out of the Foster Care system at the age of 18. Many of them leave with a garbage bag holding their belongings. We will be at the Mission Table after church on Sunday with a filled bag for you to see and for any questions. We fill 32 cases a year at a cost of $110 each. You can either send a check or donate online under Mission Committee for Suitcase Initiative. There will be a training session for greeter and usher volunteers after the service on Sunday, November 20th. If you'd like to volunteer as an usher or a greeter, you can sign up using the form here.
