It’s that time of year again, when we invite adults and youth to volunteer for our “FOOD TRUCK PARTY DAY CAMP/VBS.” This fun-packed camp will be held Monday, June 13th through Friday, June 17th, 9:00 a.m. until 11:30am at NSUMC.
There will be two VBS volunteer meetings. We encourage you to attend both meetings so we can plan as a group: - Sunday, May 1st @ 11am (in-person and on Zoom) - Sunday, May 22nd @ 11am (in-person and on Zoom) The curriculum and crafts will be available, so if you are interested, you will be able to leave these meetings with the leader’s book for your area of interest, plus you will be able to see the crafts, and hear the songs. Again, this year we will have a pre-school classroom, so the little ones will not have to switch from station to station, but this concept requires more volunteers. If you know anyone that would be interested in volunteering, please bring him or her to the meeting. Other important dates to add to your calendar: - Friday, June 17th @ 12pm-2pm: VBS Clean-Up Pizza Party! - Sunday, June 19th @ 10:00am: Worship Service/VBS song & DVD of camp photos If you (and/or your friend) would like to volunteer, please contact Terry Wright to reserve a spot. Thank you for keeping our children and the children in our community in your prayers! The Summer Sunday School program is a perfect place to share your gifts and passions. You can commit to as many or as few Sundays as you are interested in or have the time for. We have ten Sundays from June 5th through August 7th that need to be filled by adults who love children and God. 20 positions are available (two adults for our class at 10:00 a.m. ages 3-12 classes) to fill our Summer Sunday School teaching calendar. We will supply the curriculum and the support.
Please consider sharing just ONE SUNDAY, and that’s just ONE HOUR. You can sign up online here or contact Terry Wright so you can share your time, gifts and passions. NSUMC has a wonderful tradition of giving Bibles to our second grade students. This year we will have this celebration on Sunday, May 22nd during the 10am service. Because of the last couple of COVID years, this year we would love to include every 2nd-4th grade student who would like a Bible to join us in church, so all may receive their NSUMC Bibles together.
Please confirm your child’s attendance by contacting one of your child’s Sunday School teacher or the church office. We would like to thank you, the parent, for the dedication of bringing your children to church. Thank you for encouraging them to learn about God’s grace. It’s through your faith and guidance that your child has an interest and love of learning about Jesus. We would also like to thank the United Methodist Women of NSUMC who donate the funds to make these Bibles a reality for our students! We look forward to celebrating this special moment with you and your family. ![]() A Wednesday Morning Book Study begins on April 20th with a reading and discussion of On Fire by John O'Leary. Mr. O'Leary was burned over 100% of his body when he was nine years old. His story is moving and inspirational and he is now a popular motivational speaker. If you need to purchase a copy, you can find the Amazon link here. This class will run through June 1st and will be the last class before a break over the summer. Classes will then resume in the fall. If you are interested in joining, please contact the office and keep an eye out here for more updates! Thursday, April 7th - Soup and Setup Day
Soup @ 9am, Setup @12:30pm Saturday, April 9th - Bring in your baked goods from 1pm - 3pm. Sunday, April 10th - UMW Bake Sale! The Bake Sale, which will be held from 9am to 12pm, is always our biggest fundraiser for UMW. We are hoping those that prefer ZOOM will come over early or church members can come in early to shop. In the past we have made well over $3000 a year for all of our mission work. Because our church has fewer members participating, we are cutting back on some our soups and will only have the vegetable, vegetable beef, and ham and corn chowder. We have diversified on selling pasta sauce, chicken white chili, and a couple of other products. We have jams in peach, carrot cake, apple pie, strawberry, cherry, blueberry, and sweet pickles. Items that have been made include carrot cakes, lemon blueberry bread, zucchini and fruit bread, cinnamon bread, corn bread (goes great with our soups), and brownies. We are also bringing out our steering wheel covers! If you were not able to purchase one last year for the hot summer, this is the place you will find them. |
