Scenes and Sounds from the European Choir Tour
May 24, 2019 - June 2, 2019
Members of North Scottsdale UMC choir, Cross in the Desert UMC choir, members and friends of members worked for a year to prepare repetoire to perform across Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The tour started in Vienna, Austria with a performance at St Stepen's Cathedral, moved to Salzburg and Melk, Austria with a performance in Melk Abbey and an impromptu concert in a small church in the town of Melk. Next stops were Munich and Oberammergau in Germany with a backstage tour of the Passion Play theatre where the Passion Play is perfomed once every ten years. The tour choir was able to perform on the same stage as the play. We then moved on to Lucerne, Switzerland for sightseeing and a final concert with the Lucerne City Choir. Altogether there were 8 performances, 10 days of travel and sightseeing, exciting opportunities to learn new cultures and meet new people and overall a dream come true for many and a wonderful witness and worship with old friends and new. Music truly is the universal language.
