Effective trustees will function as Christian stewards of property God has entrusted to the congregation. This includes supervising and maintaining both the physical property of the congregation and gifts made to the congregation so that the ministries of the congregation can be effective, and all legal requirements related to the property are satisfied.

Church Council

WHEN: The second Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm
The church council shall provide for the planning and implementation of a program of nurture, outreach, witness, and resources in the local church. It shall also provide for the administration of its organization and temporal life. It shall envision, plan, implement, and annually evaluate the mission and ministry of the church. The church council shall be amenable to and function as the administrative agency of the charge conference.

The mission of the care team is to become God’s agents – providing care and support to the people of God. This is done by meeting regularly and by keeping up to date with the known needs of the congregation and friends of the congregation as requested. Tasks include:

- Participate in intercessory prayer
- Befriend persons
- Offer listening support
- Visit homes and hospitals
- Take communion to persons
- Write cards and notes
- Make phone calls
- Deliver flowers and/or gifts
- Educate others on topics related to care

Membership Committee

Responsible for cultivating a welcoming membership and the satisfaction of church members. Staffs the welcome desk on Sunday mornings, leads the quarterly membership orientation meetings, and reaches out to new visitors to welcome them to worship by answering questions and guiding them through the membership process.

Missions Committee

United Methodists have believed, from the beginning, that each of us is called to participate in the outreaching ministry of Jesus Christ. John Wesley described this work in simple, practical terms: “Do all the good you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can.” The role of the Missions Committee is to coordinate mission efforts for NSUMC.

Staff-Parish Relations COMMITTEE (SPRC)

The SPRC works closely with the pastor and staff concerning their relationship with the congregation and the entire work of the church. This committee is, in essence, the personnel committee of the pastoral charge. The committee is to be sensitive to the opinions and concerns of the congregation concerning the pastor and staff. It is to confer with the district superintendent or the bishop concerning the appointment of the pastor of the church. The committee recommends the salary for the pastor to the Charge Conference. It consists of five to nine members of the pastoral charge.

This also includes volunteering during worship services as ushers and greeters, or reading the scripture during Sunday service.
