The music ministry at North Scottsdale United Methodist Church is thriving, offering many opportunities for musicians to participate. Under the leadership of Darin Read, Music Director, NSUMC's music staff is exceptional, and brings grace and joy to each ensemble. Choirs and musical groups include:

Chancel Choir rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings 7:00-8:30 p.m. from late August through June under the direction of Darin Read. Open to all singers 18 and up, it provides a variety of traditional music at the 10:00 service on Sundays, and also presents Cantatas during Advent. The Chancel Choir also sings at the 7:00 & 11:00 p.m. services on Christmas Eve.

Wesleyan Singers is a great opportunity for individuals 18 and older to participate in a music program that does not require the time commitment and musical demand of our current Adult Chancel Choir. The Wesleyan Singers lead music for the 8:30 worship service each Sunday. Rehearsals are on Sunday mornings at 8:00 a.m. in the choir room. The repertoire consists of light/easy hymn arrangements, traditional and contemporary Christian songs, gospel tunes and sacred world music.

AngeliX is our youth choir ensemble under the direction of Kim Montana. Grades 7-12 participate in this group of singers and instrumentalists who perform a variety of music. AngeliX rehearses on Sundays from 11:00-11:45, and adds to the worship experience at the 10:00 service once a month, as well as at special services throughout the year.

Kids of Grace is for children grades 2-6, and is directed by Kim Montana. Rehearsals are held on Sunday mornings (during the academic school year) 9:15 - 9:55 a.m., and Kids of Grace sings at the 10:00 a.m. service on the third Sunday of the month Sept-May. Rehearsals include brief lessons on music theory.

Cherub Choir is for all children Kindergarten through 1st Grade, and gives the privilege of learning traditional church songs on a weekly basis during Sunday School. Kim Montana does a wonderful job of bringing this exciting ministry to the youngest ones in our church. The Cherub Choir sings at the 10:00 a.m. service on the second Sunday of the month Sept-May.

The performance schedule of the Children's and
Youth Choirs will occasionally change depending on the
needs of the church. Please check the Music Bulletin Board
in the North Wing for updated information

Hand Bell Choir rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings. The beginning choir rehearses at 6:00 p.m. and the advance choir at 7:00, both under the direction of Brent Fike. No audition is required for this ensemble, however one must be able to read music to participate (adults and grades 9 and older). The Bell Choir provides music during church service one Sunday per month Sept-May.

Special Music Soloists and Ensembles (vocal or instrumental) are encouraged to share their talents during worship. Please contact
Darin Read, Director of Music.
