The Children’s Ministry Team, comprised of laity and staff, oversees this ministry and creates and implements children’s ministries. Together, they recruit and help prepare a large team of volunteers, who help make our children’s ministries happen.

Sunday School:
Sunday School is offered at the 9:30
am service. Students ages 2 years old through
1st grade go directly to their respective classrooms
in the North Wing. Students 2nd grade through
6th grade, enter the Sanctuary with their parents,
and are to sit in the front of the Sanctuary with
the Sunday School teacher and classmates.
These students participate in our
Sunday worship service through Children’s
Moments (this is approximately 10 minutes into our
worship service, please reference your bulletin),
and then they go to their respective classroom in
the East Wing.
Please see our web page for YOUTH
(7th grade and older) to learn about their
opportunities. Your child does not have to be registered
prior to their first attendance at Sunday School.
They may join us at anytime during the school year
and will be given a registration packet on their
first day of class.

Children’s Choir Ministry:
This ministry is offered in two different
ways. For children kindergarten to 1st grade, the
Cherub Choir, will be available during their first
15 minutes of Sunday School. For children ages 2nd
grade to 6th grade, the Kids of Grace Choir, will
have choir practice from 10:40-11:15 am every Sunday
morning. Each group will
sing once a month during a worship service.
Vacation Bible School:
Vacation Bible School is offered for one week in the summer, 9:00 am – 12:00 noon. It includes fun learning centers for the children. Click here for more information.
Events & Festivals:
There are many events and festivals
throughout the year that encourage fellowship between
children and their families. Shrove Tuesday, is
a pre-Lenten celebration where a pancake dinner
is served and pancake relay races occur. An Easter
Egg Hunt is held at a local park annually. At this
event the children will search for eggs that have
Christian symbols inside of them. Following the
hunt they will learn about the meanings of the symbols
that they found.
Trunk or Treating is our event in October. This
festival includes a costume parade, trick or treating
by the trunk of your cars, food, carnival games
and prizes. In late November or early December,
we have an Advent Celebration. This celebration
offers a light dinner of international soups and
chili’s, make-and-take crafts, make-and-take
Advent wreaths and a short worship service.
Baptism:
Baptism is a sacrament ordained by
Christ, representing the beginning of a lifelong
process of growing in Christ and the sacrament of
initiation into the Body of Christ, the church,
which joins the person baptized with Christians
everywhere. Babies, children and adults are baptized
in the United Methodist Church.
Third Grade Bibles:
Third grade Sunday School students
are presented with a gift from their church––a
Bible––in a special ceremony in the
fall. Third graders and their parents also attend
activities to become acquainted with their Bibles.
Missions Projects:
Children have the opportunity to participate
in missions projects throughout the year
through their weekly offerings and as part of Vacation
Bible School.
Acolytes:
Children in third grade and older
are invited to serve their church as acolytes in
the worship services. Acolytes are trained and serve
by assisting with baptisms, communion, carrying
the cross and lighting candles.
Nursery/Childcare:
Our nursery is open during all services to children ages two
and under. We have trained staff members in the
facility at all times.
Parents, please:
-
Make sure your child is well
before bringing him or her to the nursery. We
cannot care for a child with a fever, runny nose,
cough or rash. Please be considerate of other
children, and do not bring a sick child to the
Childcare Center.
-
Label all your children’s
belongings with first and last names--especially
cups and bottles.
-
Bring an extra change of clothing,
an extra pair of underwear and diapers.
-
Be aware of our “no cry”
policy. We will do everything possible to calm
your child. However, if a child cries for 10 minutes
without settling down, we will page you to comfort
your child.
-
Please leave toys at home. We
have plenty of fun toys, and we don’t want
your special ones to be lost.
-
We have a refrigerator and microwave,
plus snacks and drinks. Let our staff know of
any allergies or obvious dislikes.
To contact us please call the church office at
(480) 948-0529 and leave a message for either
the Director of Christian Education, Terry Wright
or the Children’s Music Director, Kim Montana --- or send us an email.
