Deanna Self-Price
Deanna Self-Price grew up in North Canton, Ohio. While in college, she worked as a Library Technical Assistant and later graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in English. Discovering a call to ministry led her to serve on several church staffs in the West Ohio Annual Conference as a professional church lay-worker. Her field of expertise at the time included Youth & Young Adult Ministry, Christian Education and Outreach Program Ministry.
In 1984, Deanna entered seminary at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio to study for the pastoral ministry. While at seminary, she met her husband, the Rev. Paul Self-Price. They were married the following year.
Upon graduation in 1988, the Self-Prices left Ohio to serve churches in Oregon. Both pastors have served in a variety of settings from small member churches to large metropolitan and suburban churches. In 1997, the Self-Prices moved to Boise, Idaho where Deanna served as chaplain with the Western Pines Care Facility, and Paul was appointed pastor at Whitney United Methodist Church. In 1998, Deanna joined the staff of the Whitney United Methodist Church in Pastoral Care and Witness Ministries.
Training in International Interim Ministry, a new and highly specialized ministry forming across the denomination, brought her to serve at the Collister United Methodist Church in 2002. In 2004, Deanna was appointed to serve the Corvallis United Methodist Church, an 800-member church committed to social justice and sustainability issues in the heart of Willamette Valley. She is passionate about worship, preaching and church growth. At the Annual Conference level, she has served on the Episcopacy Committee and served as the Annual Conference Agenda Chair for five years.
